Long ago, in a quiet village surrounded by tall forests and winding footpaths, there lived a people who respected the world of spirits as much as they respected the world of the living. They believed the dead never truly disappeared. They only walked farther away from the path that humans could see. At the center of the village stood a small sacred shrine built from red clay and old wood darkened by many seasons of rain. Inside that shrine rested a drum no one was allowed to touch. It was not a large drum. It was not decorated with gold.
