The new wave of CRUSADER CAVALRY emerges from the mist like iron wraiths, lances lowered, a moving wall of death aimed at the Viking flank. Erik, fighting nearby, sees them. His youthful bravado evaporates. ERIK BJORN! Bjorn’s choice is instantaneous. The kill is in his grasp, but his warriors are not. He snarls, not at the Bishop, but at fate. With a final, contemptuous shove of his boot, he sends the wounded Bishop sprawling into the muddy shallows, then turns to face the new threat.
