Prompt
Once, a man came to the Buddha and said, “People insult me and hurt me. How do I stop suffering?” The Buddha asked him, “If someone offers you a gift and you refuse it, who does the gift belong to?” The man replied, “To the one who offered it.” The Buddha smiled and said, “In the same way, when someone offers you anger, blame, or hatred, and you do not accept it, it remains with them.” The man understood. His problem was not what others were giving him, but what he was choosing to accept.
