The History of Yani Dabari Yani Dabari is an important historical and sacred place in the Dagbon Kingdom. The name “Yani Dabari” means “the old Yendi” or “the ancient seat of power” of the Dagbon kings (Ya-Naa). Long ago, before the Dagbon Kingdom expanded to many areas, the early kings of Dagbon ruled from Yani Dabari. It was at this place that important royal ceremonies, such as the installation of new Ya-Naas, were performed.
