George Wendt, the beloved actor behind one of TV’s most iconic characters — Norm from Cheers — has passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep at home in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. He was 76 years old. Wendt played Norm Peterson, the lovable, beer-drinking regular at the Boston bar, for all 11 seasons of Cheers , which aired from 1982 to 1993.
