The hotel receptionist looked confused when I asked for Room 313. “That room’s been closed for years,” she said quietly. But my booking confirmation clearly said 313. I went up anyway — the hallway was colder there, lights flickering one by one. The door creaked open by itself. Inside, everything was covered in dust… Yet, the bed was made. Fresh sheets.
